This beach is huge when the tide goes out. You can park almost on the beach and there is a route from Colonsay to Oronsay over the beach, it's not recommended however to drive across unless you are with someone in the know.
When we visited the beach it was wet but still suitable for kiting. We spoke to some of the locals and they said it does dry out in the warmer months and just now the land is just so wet due to the wet winter that they have had.
The beach would work best in a Southerly wind direction due to the high hills on either side. We didn't get a chance to walk the full length of the beach but its easily 1/2 a mile from where you park to the water line and this wasn't with the tide fully out.
The sand is hard packed and suitable for all land based activities. Without the chance to try the water I would say it is suitable for kite surfing as well but this has still to be tried.
With the standing water on the beach I would say barrow wheels or discs would work best as bigfoots might aquaplane at speed.
