This weekend (18th / 19th June) is the return leg of the SPKA / IPKSA Celtic Challange.
2 days of fast paced (if the wind blows!) buggy racing at West Sands, St Andrews.
The competition is still all to play for with the Irish team heading over to try and defend their title.
If you are in the St Andrews area, why not head along and what this amazing event.
Not seen buggy racing before?
A brief background, all race pilots start at the same time in a mass rush to the start line as soon as the flag drops, then the pilots must navigate their way around a pre-defined course with kites and buggies of varies shapes and sizes, testing their kiting skills and their buggying skills to the max. Hitting speeds in excess of 30mph, this is not for the faint hearted, racing inches away from one another, bumps and tangles are all part of the excitement! Races last anywhere between 20mins to 3+ hours depending on the event however most of the Scottish races are for a duration of approx 20-30mins.
If you are heading to watch the races, please stay off the main course while a race is taking place. If in doubt, speak to the race marshalls who can be spotted by their hi-viz jackets.
