Last weekend (1st / 2nd October) was the first weekend on the SPKAracing diary so Owain headed up to Fraserburgh to take part in the weekend's racing along with a number of TK forum members.
Saturday morning was wet but there was hope that the wind would increase and a race would take place. Tom Arlott was race marshall for the day and he set out a course on the beach. A pilot's briefing was called and the wind was picking up but then the heavens opened. Everyone took shelter either in their beach tents or up at the cafe which was just off the beach.
Once the rain passed the wind dropped and it was decided that due to the tide coming in and the lack of wind that no racing would take place. Owain decided to drag his buggy up to the top of the highest dune on the beach and free-wheel down it. Stu Mackay also followed him - the things we do when there is no wind!

Some people got out for a short while between showers and when the wind picked up but it was an afternoon for the big kites, 12m and 14m were required!
Fingers were crossed for Sunday.
Saturday evening the entire fleet headed out for dinner which was organised by Mark and Maggie from Synergy Kitesports, who are based in Fraserburgh. A lovely 3 course meal was laid on for us and many beers and drams were enjoyed.
Sunday morning, registration was at 8:30am but this time there was no stopping the rain. Everyone waited in the hope that a race would be scheduled but once again, the weather gods didnt play ball and the day was abandoned about 12pm.
No racing took place but everyone had a great weekend in Fraserburgh, the next race weekend is at St Andrews, Fife, on the 29th/30th October. Fingers crossed for dry windy conditions so that everyone can get some points on the board!
