After Sundays Chill and Ride at StAndrews I realised I've got to get myself a buggy, being limited on funds and not planning on doing any freestyle I was looking at this...
Does anyone have any clue if it's a decent buggy? It's just for learning and basic cruising around.
After seeing Flyinchef total his buggy without trying very hard on Sunday I would say don't bother.
If you can find a Flexifoil buggy second hand it will last you much longer than a Radsail. I've had my Flexifoil buggy for about 8 - 9 years now and its still going strong, unlike the Radsail which the seat gave way (again!) and the bracket for the downtube snapped!
Just keep checking ebay for them - I managed to source a brand stainless flexi bug (had been taken out of the box and built up then put into storage for 2 years) for a mate at the start of August with a buy it now of £249 with free delivery!!
So they are about you just need to keep your eye's peel'd
As O. says, I wasn't trying very hard, and it kind folded, broken weld on side rail, a "new reinforced" seat ripped down both sides, and snapped two fixings.
I bought it with the same intentions as you dude, but as you get better you start to ask more from it, and it just ain't there to give. It wasn't even a big jump
Try looking in for sale sections on kite forums, Mind you I'm also looking in the same places
Flexifoil standard buggy or a Peter Lynn Comp should do you fine, Libre also make good buggies (that is what Judith has) but they tend to be a bit bigger than the Peter Lynn and Flexifoil.
Don't go near the Peter Lynn folding buggy though, not the most sturdy of buggies
Stu wrote: How likely am I to find a Flexifoil for under £300?
I missed Flyingchef totaling his buggy :/ doh!
The short answer is VERY likely. There are usually several flexi buggies on ebay most of the time (or there was when I was looking for one earlier this year). On average they were going for between £230 - £280.
I got one with the Wide tyres (standard axle) for £260 I think it was.
Only problem was collecting it as many say they'll only accept "collect from seller". But if you contact the seller they will often accept if YOU arrange a courier to collect, all they need to do it dismantle it and wrap in tape/polythene.
Fortunately, I managed to arrange for it to be collect and passed between a few forum members (on a VW van forum) so it reached me when I was in Beaulieu for a meet, so only cost me a crate of beers .
