TOPIC: Cleaning My Kite

Cleaning My Kite 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Hey kiting people. I took a new-ish kite (flexifoil blade) out today for the 1st time in ages. It was cool but the grass was wet and now the kite and lines and stuff are damp and a bit muddy. Is there a way I should/shouldnt clean and dry it? The instruction manual says handwashing in warm soapy water is ok but I guess I'm paranoid about damaging so thought I'd seek a real persons advice. What do you guys use or should I not even bother?

Thanks!
Alan

If you can, lay it out in a warm room, if not then just leave it as it is. Not a huge problem a bit of mud and damp on the kite. If you don't plan on taking the kite out within the next week I would lay it out somewhere warm just to let it dry to prevent mould.

Nice one, thanks for the quick reply. I'll leave it be for now.

Cheers!

Hi Alan

Owain's right -- however there is no harm in either a) hanging them on a washing line and using a hosepipe to clean off the worst or b) do as we do and shower them down with cool water in the bath. If you have an OH, make sure that you clean up after you

Don't use hot water as this can cause the colour to run...

Its really up to you...
