Helppp 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Hey all, i am totally new to this so sorry in advance for all the questions.

I have been messing around with a small 1.2m kite for few months and recently bought a bigger 4 line kite. I just really want to mess about in park etc for some fun and excercise. I love being dragged about and lifted slightly. I am looking at buying a peter lin 4 line bar but am not at all sure how to connect it to my kite. Is it a piece of cake or what??

Sorry for dumbass question/s there will be many me thinks lol.

Thankyou in advance.

Stu.

Questions is the only way to learn dude, no matter how dumb they seem.

Depends on the type and size of kite you have how effective it'll be, personally I think you loose a lot with a bar and fixed bridle kites,

if you consider your control as 25% per line, when you hook up to a bar you don't have the individual control of brake lines, which means you loose 50% of control.

that aside, power lines attach to the outside of the bar and brake lines to the centre with the same larks head knot that you use to attach lines to kite or handles.

Take it Easy, Yeah!?

Ian's got the right idea on this one.

Is there a particular reason you want to use a bar to fly the kite??

If not, the advantages of handles for static flying will shine through soon enough. You can have much more precise control of the kite with handles, brake on just one side to turn the kite practically on itself or even (with practise) make the kite sit stationary in the wind window - maybe not the 4m but probably the smaller kite....

If you want to progress onto a harness you have the strop between the handles....

Aha i see. To be honest ive just been looking at all the videos etc and see people with the bars and harness `s. My arms get real sore after couple of hours and are near dead the next day. Thought it may take some of the pain out of it lol.

What would u suggest?

Ibuprofen

seriously tho, it gets easier the more you fly the more trained/used to the extra use the muscles get and it does hurt less the next day, just think of it as a gym workout, no pain... no gain

LOL Well i have a couple of Zeruko`s from decathlon.

No laughing.... I saw the 1.2m they had on display and decided stuff it i fancied it.
Had a play with it, watched some videos and bought the 4.5m next. So really just been messing about with them. Nothing like u guys/girls.

Going out tomorrow for a laugh again with them again. Was down at irvine beach on saturday with them, had great time.

What sort of path would the experts point me in for some more static laughs?

Cheers Stu.

A laugh..... I'm being threatened with gusts up to 60mph tomorrow, that'll be all of my toys staying in their bags.(yeah, I'm a wimp lol)

never had any dealings with decathlon kites, just chased reviews, they read well.

4.5 is a fairly sized toy, should be able to get you a couple of feet off the groung in right/wrong wind speeds.

I don't know about expert, but this time of year I'd be looking for somewhere between 1.4-2.5Msq. Mind you once the bug takes hold you'll end up with car boot full of all sizes, then it'll be wheels of some sort....... and and...
