Kite suggestions for kids 1 Year, 8 Months ago
My niece recently showed an interest in my kite flying and as it's her birthday soon, I thought I might buy her own kite but what to buy.

Do I just get a 2 line recreational kite, like the Ozone Imp or a 3 line trainer like the Imp 3-line trainer with it's bar as it can be reverse launched. Then there's the PKD Nippair with it's bar/handle arrangement.

My niece will be 12 but small for her age.

Any suggestions/recommendations?

We have a PKD Nippair that you can have a shot of Roors, nice wee kites but best suited to keep it on the bar setup rather than the handles option.

Not going to be in St Andrews for a couple of weekends but the Nippair is always in the van.
Also got the 2line Imp in the van as well.

The other option is the 1.4m buster?

Hows about a 1.4beamer, that was the first 4 line that John(small body you met at luce) flew, he was 8 when he started to fly that one, and he's not the biggest of kids either. think the skymonster still has mkIII's at £50.

Radsail 145 not sure if they're still around though, a quick ebay search just came up dry. Shocking.

If you can find one, it's a great wee (roughly 0.85m2) cheap 2-liner that's a load of fun. I still have mine somewhere, though I haven't flown it (or even touched it) since it landed in the smelliest of smelly streams on Grott Bay a year or two ago

First kite I buggied with, believe it or not!

Better to risk breaking your neck than to never look up at the sky.

since it landed in the smelliest of smelly streams on Grott Bay a year or two ago Well I'm not buying that then ... if it smelled bad two years ago, hate to think what state it's in NOW.

Just realised I've got a 1.5m Imp kicking about, will start her on that and see how it goes ... just got to think of another present now, as I feel a cheap skate giving a second-hand present
