What a great forum. 4 Years ago
My name is Connall, 45 year old at the moment with 3 of a family. I spotted this forum whilst on winterhighland reading public snow reports. My interests are mountainbiking, snowboarding, (used to ski), motorbikes and scooters and the occasional Munroe. I have tried hang gliding and paragliding a long time ago at Glenshee with Gustav the mad Austrian ski instructor, I found it rather expensive at the time, but who knows I may try again when the kids leave.
I have a holiday home in Donegal with some nice beaches hence the reason I want to give this sport a try. May the wind blow.

Some nice beaches down there. I am from a small village called Ranafast near Annagry and normally go to the beach at Donegal airport Carrickfinn. There is also a good beach at Gweedore

Hi Wully, what's the news on Gustav? Haven't seen him since the late 80's.

Do you think this beach would be suitable for kite landboarding? I was a bit concerned with the local airport, but only a few flights per day in full season. There are plenty other beaches as you know.

Probably an idea to speak to the guys at the airport, Im sure if you werent flying during "peak" times then they wouldnt have a problem. The sand felt solid enough for land boarding but as you say, there are other beaches which are just as good which don't have the airport nearby. No harm in asking though. Will chat about it at St Andrews when we see you.

Allegedly,
The word on the hill is that he cleared off back to Austria with an outstanding debt or two and won't be seen on these parts again...Allegedly.
Shame- he seemed a nice bloke although a bit strange which could have been the Austrian in him- or perhaps all those hard falls.

Yes, googled his name and he is back in his native Austria running a large guest house. He was a fantastic hang gliding pilot, one of the early pioneers I was told. I can still hear him shout "moon stride, moon stride" in that Germanic accent to get us to run down the hill for take off.
