Harness/Spreader/Pulley Set up 3 Years, 9 Months ago
Thanks for the info so far...does anyone have photos of set up and specs for the harness/spreader bar/shackle/pulley and strop

Adam suggested Wichard/Petzl...where can I buy them from?

What is best length for strop?

Cheers

Hootie have you done much buggying before buying Adams bug?? Reason i ask is that the harness pulley arrangement your asking about is a fully captive system meaning that if you cant reach the safety in the event of an accident your stuck

If your just learning it would be much safer and easier for you to learn without using a harness it'll build up your upper body strength alot more and teach you how to fully control the kite.

If you have been doing this for a while but this is your first harness I'd suggest going for a seat harness ie - Libre, dakine, scrub etc with either a hook spreader bar or open roller spreader there's plenty of them going around - something like this - http://www.powerkiteshop.com/accessorie ... arness.htm

If your dead set on getting a fully captive system and feel you have the experience to handle it my set up is -

A Black Diamond Climbing harness, Stainless steel shackle, Whichard quick release and finished with a holt allen block.

I got most of the equipment from here - http://www.sail-sport.com/

I'll try get you a pick of the set up tomorrow - tho again if your just starting this prob isn't the set up for you

Hope this helps

Totally agree!!
When you are learning, its surprising where the kite can end up!! and you dont want it to take you with it!!!

Cheers guys...glad to get any advice

Been flying kite for 4 years...landboard for 2 years so pretty comfortable with different flying conditions and safety issues....only ever flown so far with handles

Just wanted to take some of the exertion from arms once I use the buggy...is there a middle ground...maybe just use a strop with the hook on the spreader bar?? or not worth it??

Cheers

Yes, that is exactly what the middle ground is, a hook OR a roller on a spreader bar. The roller is probably better if your using handles as it allows the strop to roll rather than rub against the hook.

Peter Lynn do a roller bar rather than a hook.
