Snapped brake line. 1 Year, 10 Months ago
Myself and my mates had a great session up at St Andrews on Sunday evening. Perfect conditions for me. However, my mate had a go in my buggy with my 2.5m Flexi Bullet. He went about 20m then as he attempted to turn he headed down wind. As you can imagine the kite stalled and one of the brake lines wrapped itself around the front wheel and resulted in it snapping . In a small moment of madness after i removed the lines i threw the unbroken brake line in the bin too. Looking back i should have just shortened them all but hayhoo, too late now. I have had a wee look for lines but cant seem to find brake lines anywhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction or do i need to buy a whole new set of lines?

Cheers,

Wayne.

Brake lines are just a lighter (lower breaking strain) power line.

I'd suspect for your Bullet, 75kg would be fine. However you are limited to buying them in pairs, just as well really as the stretch factor will be reasonably even across them both then.

I notice the 'Shop' seems to have disappeared from the TK site so you could either try Skymonster (at Maryville Models in Edinburgh) ExtremeZone in Irvine or go mail order to someone like Power Kite Shop darn Sath. There are various prices around, the cheapest aren't usually the best as they tend to stretch a lot compared to some of the more expensive ones.

Just remember, when you get them, to match there length to your existing power lines, if the brake lines are to long they won't have any effect on bringing the kite down out of the sky.

Have you thought of just buying a spool of line?

The shop has gone from the site but we are still suppliers for Flexifoil, PKD, HQ to name just a few, I just found it hard to keep up with all the updates the companies send us as well as my full time job

If you need a price for kite line or full sets, drop us an email.
