For a first board I reckon it'd be fine, I've never used one but I currently have a Scrub Deimos and its a great little board, basic no frills but does the job fine. Its got the velcro bindings on it as well which I find comfy on your feet and easy to use. I think the Vapour is just a sort of slightly updated and newer version of the Deimos so it shouldn't be too bad if you just want a basic but half decent board.

I'm a newbie but have a vapour...still to use it! Seems well built and looks the part but I know very little board wise lol

A bit late but:
I have a vapour and all I can tell it is well made board [oh the rubber pads comes of the board] it is quite bouncy in a nice way and generaly seems to be robust. Comparing to cheaper rush - get a vapour rush's board is as stiff as skateboard.
All in all I'm still happy with this board although I will replace rubber pads with griptape in a near future but this is a minor thing.
