flex has several effects on a kitesurf board

the first being comfort of the ride, in chop a stiff board can play havoc with your knees. a bit of flex will make the ride a lot smoother

also helps absorb impact in slightly hard landings and allow you to get away with landings you may not have otherwise

also helps with the pop to some degrees

the are slight downsides though, a stiff board seem to be a litttle more efficient and get going a little quicker in the light stuff. also the position of the flex is fairly important, ideally between the straps the board should be fairly stiff but with most flex towards the tips IMO

this is what i found between my 2 boards, the major difference between the 2 being that the newer one has way more flex

hope it helps

I guess you can have too much flex as well though....too much flex and the board would just wobble any time you hit a wave...

What are progressive flex tips, may be really obvious from the name, but what does this do for you?

progressive flex tips is just a fancy way of sayign tghe board gets flexy'er towards the tips.

all benifits are as i mentioned above. a board that flexed too much in the middle would be horrible to ride, the tips are where you wnat the flex.
